Young Black Stars offensive-midfielder Richmond Boayke-Yiadom is ready to fight for a regular place in the team after making a strong statement on his international debut last Wednesday.

One of Coach Kwasi Appiah’s new introductions into the team, Boakye-Yiadom, grabbed his moment when he scored on against China to hand the Stars a deserved equaliser in the - draw game played in Xi’an, China.

The 18-year-old Juventus player who joined Italian giants juventus a few weeks ago, is carving a niche for himself, having also scored on his international debut with Ghana’s under-20 team two years ago to help the black satellites to qualify for last year’s African Youth Championship in South Africa where he emerged the team’s leading scorer.

His performance against China as a second half substitute not only justified the hype the youngster was currently enjoying in Italy but also would be encouraging news for Coach Appiah as the midfielder increased the team’s attacking options and is a possible striking partner with Asamoah Gyan.

His recent form suggests, Boakye-Yiadom would be considered for selection next month when Ghana plays Malawi in a one-off Nations Cup qualifier as well as a possible candidate for the 2013 Nations Cup in South Africa if ghana clears the Malawi hurdle.

Despite last Wednesday’s goal, the teenage sensation remains grounded and is ready to bide his time and grab his chance, and the presence of Berekum Chelsea hitman Emmanuel Clottey and Asamoah Gyan set to increase competition for positions in the national team.

“I am opready to prove myself anytime I am given the opportunity,” the Agogo-born player said.

The former Bechem United and Genoa player believes his rise from the national Under-17 team through the Under-20 side played a significant role in his career development and easy adjustment into the senior team, and hopes “it would get better” with morwe playing time.

Boakey-yiadom was transferred from Genoa to the Italia Serie A champions after a transfer fee of US$5m was agreed, having been transfered by Genoa on loan to Serie B side Sassuolo where he enjoyerd a lot of playiong time and hugely impressed. He scored nine goals to help Sassuolo advance to the semi-final of the promotional play-offs.

Boakye-Yiadom, who is the third Ghanaian to play for Juventus after Stephen Appiah Black Stars midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah, emerged as one of the most sought-after youngsters in Italy after netting 12 goals in all competitions last season before his move to Juve.
