Officials Explain Gyan No Show

Asamoah Gyan was part of coach Kwasi Appiah's men that travelled to Xi'an to battle China, but the Ghana striker could only watch the game from the bench.

DAILY GUIDE SPORTS gathered that the technical team decided to rest the Al-Ain marksman due to fatigue and a slight knock he received during training session.

A close source to the team revealed that the player was in a position to lead the attack but the technical handlers thought it prudent to make him rest.

'He was in a position to play but he arrived last Monday evening, so the technical team realized it would not be prudent to use him,' the source said.

Wednesday's game would have been Gyan's first international assignment since February this year.

Meanwhile, reports from China says despite not kicking a ball, Gyan's arrival from his UAE base drew massive crowds to the team.

Ghana held China to a 1-1 drawn game.
