
Accra, Aug. 14, GNA - Accra Brewery Limited (ABL) has presented a cheque for U100,000 US dollars as part of its sponsorship for Enablis Entrepreneurial Network's 2013 Business Plan Competition, a statement from the company has said.
Enablis Entrepreneurial Network is a membership based organization, which aims at providing support programmes through assistance in the development of entrepreneurial skills, access to finance and professional networking.
The Business Plan Competition, an initiative of Enablis Entrepreneurial Network, Ghana, is an annual event, which has been in existence for the last three years.
The competition focuses on bringing to bear brilliant business plans amongst small and medium scale entrepreneurs and also making available the requisite skills needed by these entrepreneurs.
Presenting the cheque, Adjoba Kyiamah, Corporate and Legal Affairs Director of Accra Brewery Limited said, ABL was very “proud to be associated with an event that seeks to empower people in practical ways suitable to the demands of the increasingly challenging economic climate.”
The Country Manager of Enablis Entrepreneurial Network, Ghana, Shika Acolatse expressed appreciation to ABL on behalf of the entrepreneurs who would benefit from the donation and encouraged other businesses to see Corporate Social Responsibility as a business approach to sustainable economic development.
Last year, Accra Brewery sponsored the Food and Beverage category of the Business Plan Competition.
The finalists of the competition were also given the opportunity to undertake a knowledge packed training session in Human Resources, Marketing, Sales and Distribution, and Finance, spearheaded by selected professionals of Accra Brewery.
“Accra Brewery Limited has a special interest in sponsoring the development of entrepreneurial skills because the company strongly believes entrepreneurship is the fuel that drives economic growth in a developing country,” the statement said.
“As such, the company's support for the implementation of a focused support programme is its contribution towards empowering entrepreneurs,” it added.
