GHANAIANS IN THE USA MOURN THE DEATH OF THE LATE PRESIDENT J.E. ATTA MILLS

Friday August 10th, 2012, was a day of mourning around the world, for the late President of Ghana, J.E Atta Mills. While the people of Ghana were mourning over Mills at Independence Square, Ghanaians in America were mourning over the late president at the Embassy of Ghana in Washington , D.C. From 7pm to midnight, Ghanaian s and other mourners attended the memorial program at the Ghana Embassy in Washington, D.C.

The program included scripture readings from Isaiah 25:1-12 and Romans 12:3-21 and various tributes from area associations, including the Old Achimotans Association. A Methodist choir was in attendance to lead the mourners in hymns, including MHB 652, “Brief Life is Here our Portion” and MHB 828, “ Ten Thousand Times Ten Thousand”.

The scripture readings and sermon were followed by the traditional ceremony, which included prayers, a song by Ms. Juliana Arslanian, drumming, and dancing. The memorial service at the Embassy of Ghana in Washington , D.C gave mourners the opportunity to grieve while also celebrating the life of the dear late President, J.E Atta Mills.
