
Accra, Aug 09, GNA – The 9th Quadrennial Delegate Congress of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) opens on Saturday August 11 to Thursday August 16 2012.
The congress on the theme “Organizing for Empowerment, Employment Security and Increased Productivity” will take place at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
A statement signed by the Mr Kofi Asamoah, Secretary General of the TUC, said “for the first time in the history of Ghana TUC, the main congress which is the highest decision making body of the TUC, will be preceded by the Youth and Women's Congresses.”
It said His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana will be the Special Guest Speaker.
Activities for the Congress includes a Youth Congress, Women Congress, Discussion of TUC Policies for 2012-2016, a Plenary Session and an election of new officers.
