Gold Fields Ghana has committed GHc200, 000.00 to construct a fully equipped ICT Centre in memory of late President Prof J E A Mills.
The facility is to be built at the Huni Valley Methodist Basic School where the late president attended school as a young boy.
In addition, the leading gold producer in Ghana donated an amount of GHs5, 000.00, customary drinks of 1 case of Johnnie Walker whiskey, and 1 case of J H Henkes aromatic schnapps to support his final funeral rites.
Gold Fields also extended condolences to the widow, Dr. Ernestina Naadu Mills; the entire bereaved family, Government and Ghanaians.
The Gold Fields delegation was led by Vice President of Operations, Mr Alfred Baku who made the presentation to Ambassador Ken Kanda at the State protocol Offices in Accra.
“This donation is unique because the late Prof. Mills was passionate about supporting grassroot development and education; so the construction of a fully equipped ICT Centre for the pupils of Huni Valley Methodist Basic School, where Prof. Mills attended as a young boy, is indeed, laudable”, Ambassador Kanda stated while receiving the cheque on behalf of the funeral planning committee.
