
Tafo (Ash), Aug. 07, GNA – Madam Anima Wilson, Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, has called on parents and teachers work together in moulding the minds of school children from their early stages to adulthood.
She said when the young ones were made to understand the importance of education and accountability from the kindergarten level they would grow to manage the country's resources efficiently and effectively.
Madam Wilson, who made the observation at the graduation of the pupils of Mmofraturo Girls Preparatory School at Tafo, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, appealed to parents and guardians to spend quality time and resources to give their children the best of education.
“The country is blessed with abundant mineral and human resources but what is needed now, is the effective management of these resources for the general well-being of all” adding that “this is why successive governments have laid emphasis on ensuring quality education in Ghana.”
She said it behoves on all stakeholders in education to play their roles effectively towards the development and progress of the country.
Mrs Cecilia Minkah, Headmistress of the School, said pre and basic schools form the foundation for the proper educational training of the child to become useful and responsible citizens.
She called on government to pay greater attention to basic education by providing the needed support and appealed to individuals, groups, non-governmental organisations and corporate bodies to assist the school to complete its library project.
Mr Anthony Mensah, Vice-Chairman of the school's Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), urged parents to give equal opportunities to their children so that they can acquire the needed training for the total transformation of the country.
In all a total of 139 pupils graduated from kindergarten to Junior High School this year at Mmofraturo Girls Preparatory School and prizes were awarded to deserving pupils who excelled in their various academic disciplines.
The function was chaired by Dr Kaakyire Badu, Managing Director of K. Badu Agro Chemicals.
