08.08.2012 LISTEN

Accra, Aug 7, GNA - rLG Communications Limited, an indigenous technology firm, has presented a cheque of GH¢500,000 to the Funeral and Planning Committee of the late Professor John Atta Mills at the State House in Accra.

Mr Roland Agambire, Chief Executive Officer of rLG, who presented the cheque on Monday, said the donation was in response to a request by the Committee towards the successful organisation of the late President's funeral and burial ceremonies slated for August 8th to 10th.

Mr Agambire said the late President Mills was a mentor and a father for all, especially those who benefited from his Better Ghana Agenda under the Information and Communication Technology module of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP).

He stressed that about 50 students beneficiaries of the NYEP module had decided to forgo their two-month allowances as part of their contributions to bid farewell to the departed President.

He hoped the donation would reduce the expenses of the Funeral Planning Committee.

Ms Akua Sena Dansua, Minister of Tourism, who received the cheque on behalf of the Committee, thanked management of rLG for the donation, adding that they were overwhelmed by their show of sympathy to the late President.

Ms Dansua hoped other corporate organisations would take a cue from rLG to also donate towards a befitting funeral and burial for the late President.
