Wife of Late Larry Bimi donates to Cardiothoracic Unit

Hajia Hanatu Abubakar- Bimi ,Wife of the Late Larry Farrah Bimi ,former Chairman of the National Commission for Civil Education (NCCE) has donated wheel chairs amounting to One Thousand Cedis (GH¢1,000) to the Cardiothoracic Unit of the Korle-Bu teaching Hospital in Accra.
Hajia Hanatu Abubakar- Bimi who is deputy Public Relations Officer(PRO) Ghana Free Zones Board (GFZB)said the donation was to show her appreciation to the medical officers who took care of the husband during his time of treatment at the hospital till demise.
She further said it was also as part of her social responsibility as a citizen of Ghana to help build the capacity of the Cardiothoracic Unit especially the dialysis unit.
Hajia Hanatu-Bimi minced no words in describing the doctors as professionals in discharging their duties at the unit.
'The doctors had really show professionalism in the discharge of their duties when I regularly visited the hospital' she said.
She promised to adopt room six of the cardiothoracic unit in order to boost health delivery at the hospital.
Receiving the wheel chairs, Dr Lawrence Sereboe, the Director of the Cardiothoracic, expressed the hospital's profound appreciation to Hajia Abubakar-Bimi for understanding their problems and coming to their aid with such a notable gesture.
He advised heart patients to always visit the hospital rather than resort to herbal treatment.
Dr Sereboe gave the assurance that the wheel chairs would be judiciously utilized for the purpose for which it was given.
Mr. Larry Farrah Bimi was, immediately prior to his death, the Chairman of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), an office he held since 1998. Throughout his adult life, Mr. Larry Bimi strived to correct injustice wherever he found it. This he always did by way of educating people on their civil and political rights. This quality was what made him the obvious person to occupy an office whose prime mandate is to create and sustain within the country the awareness of the principles and objectives of the 1992 Constitution.
He was determined to ensure that the ordinary citizen of this country (Ghana) knew his/her rights, duties and responsibilities. He was untiring in his effort to entrench civil and political rights in our society. Through his initiatives, innovation and dedication many have come to appreciate the essence of the fundamental human rights and freedoms contained in our Constitution.
The records show that he was resolute in the fight against child labour, moral decadence, teenage pregnancy, inadequate educational infrastructure, unbridled executive power and corruption. It was through Mr. Larry Bimi's astute leadership that the presence of the NCCE is felt in all the Districts and the thousands of communities in this country.
