GHALCA and GFA Interpreter laid to rest

Akuse, July 29, GNA - The Late Stephen Adovu, Interpreter of the German and French languages for both Ghana League Club Association (GHALCA) and the Ghana Football Association (GFA), who died on May 22, 2012 after a protracted illness, was on Saturday laid to rest at the Akuse cemetery.

This was after a requiem mass was offered by Reverend Father Isaac Agbenoxevi at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Akuse.

The Late Stephen Adevu, nicknamed “Frenchman,” was an Administrative Officer with GHALCA and often carried out interpretations of both the French and German languages into English for foreign match officials.

He worked closely during international matches with the Honorary Vice-President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in-charge of West Africa, General Seye Mememe and Kablan Sampson, officer in-charge of Goal Projects in West Africa. Both officials were at the funeral grounds to sympathize with the widow and the bereaved family.

The Late Stephen Addevu was a graduate from the Ghana Institute of Languages and GOETHE Institute in Accra. He left behind a wife, a son and two daughters.

During the homily, Father Agbenoxevi called on members of the society to straighten their ways of life, follow the good path and obey the commandments of God to enable them to be welcomed into the bosom of the Lord after death.

He said no one will remain permanently on the surface of the earth and that judgement will definitely follow death.

In attendance also were officials of GHALCA and sympathizers from Nigeria, Benin, Togo and Ivory Coast.
