Farmer jailed two years for stealing palm oil

Akim Swedru (E/R), July 27, GNA - A circuit court at Akim Swedru has sentenced Alhassan Seidu, a farmer, to two years imprisonment in hard labour for stealing palm oil.
Seidu, who pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing, was ordered by the court to pay 250 Ghana cedis to Madam Joyce Dankwa, the complainant.
Police Chief Inspector Adelaide Appiakorang told the court that Madam Dankwa, bought the palm oil from a factory at Akim Akokoaso, where Seidu worked.
The prosecution said on June 18, Madam Dankwa kept 142 gallons of palm oil at the factory but when she returned to take them, she realized that 21 gallons were missing.
Chief Insp. said when Seidu was arrested and he admitted having stolen 11 gallons of the palm oil.
