Africa's influential lawyers to gather for talks on infrastructure, foundation building, and the Rule of Law ...Lagos’ governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, to headline

Nigeria's Lagos State Governor, His Excellency Babtunde Raji Fashola, is to deliver the keynote speech at the International Bar Association African Regional Forum Conference: Building the Foundations of a Successful Future: The Rule of Law and Economic Confidence in Africa. The three-day event will take place 8-10 August 2012 in Kampala, Uganda, and is being held in conjunction with the Uganda Law Society.

A lawyer, Mr Raji Fashola SAN (Senior Advocate of Nigeria), will address his counterparts from nations across Africa, including, Botswana, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zambia. As governor of one of the most populous and fastest growing cities in Africa he will share his experience in regard to managing the complex urban megacity, his infrastructure renewal drive across all sectors within Lagos, and relevant arising legal issues.

Grace Babihuga Nuwagaba, Executive Director of the Uganda Law Society said, 'The Uganda Law Society is delighted by Governor Fashola's participation at this Conference. Registered delegates for the Conference include government minsters, in-house counsel, law firm partners and human rights lawyers. The event will comprise of 55 sessions of continuing legal education on key issues and interest areas with up to 10 CPD/CLE hours.

Conference topics will include:
· Financing Africa's infrastructure;
· Legal processes outsourcing: opportunity or threat to the African lawyer?;

· The African legal sector in changing times: lawyers and firms in the 21st century;

· Trends in international commercial arbitration; and

· Extractive industries and the new energy markets of the continent.
