
Akim Oda (E/R), June 20, GNA – Rabiu Omar, a driver who knocked down one Mr Enoch Agyarku and injured him has been sentenced to a fine of GH¢180.00 by a magistrate court at Akim Oda.
The driver pleaded guilty to careless and inconsiderate driving and negligently causing harm.
The trial judge, Mr Albert Owusu Annor, ordered Omar to pay additional GHc150.00 to compensate Mr Agyarku and if he fails to execute the fine, he would serve 18 months prison term and an additional 10 months if he fails to pay the compensation.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Patience Nyame Darko told the court that on February 15 Omari, who was driving a bus from Akim Oda towards Agona Swedru with passengers on board knocked down Mr Agyarku who was crossing the road.
