WURO HARUNA ELECTED G/A KOTOKOLI CHIEF

The Council of Kotokoli Chiefs in the country last Saturday elected Wuro Salifu Haruna, the Madina Kotokoli Chief as the Greater Accra Regional Chief of the Kotokoli community in the region.

Wuro Salifu Haruna's nomination and selection was endorsed and subsequently confirmed by all the Kotokoli Chiefs from Nima, Tema, Ashaiman, Sabon Zongo, Ashalebotwe and Mamobi and was witnessed by Kotokoli chiefs from Nanakrom, Ahamansu and Tamale.

The occasion which was held at the palace of Mamobi Kotokoli chief, Wuro Mohamed Tuni, was under the auspices of the Paramount Chief of Kotokolis in Ghana and Chief of Kue in Volta region, Chief Wuro Dawuda Jetere Brenain II and it was also used to reconcile and unify all the factions within the Kotokoli chieftaincy divide in the Greater Accra region.

In an address, Wuro Salifu Haruna who is also a businessman with chains of Hardware shops in Madina, Mamobi and Accra appealed for support from all to enable him discharge the onerous responsibilities required of his new position.

According to Wuro Haruna, without the continues wise counseling of members of the council of chiefs and elders of the Kotokoli community, he will labour in vain and has therefore promised them of his fullest cooperation, and hope to receive the same from them.

In his address, the Paramount Chief of Kotokolis in Ghana and Chief of Kue in Volta region, Chief Wuro Dawuda Jetere Brenain II called on all Kotokolis to unite 'I am appealing to all you gathered here this morning to observe this historic occasion to unite because in unity, lies our collective strength'. He counseled them.

Speaker after speaker at the occassion reminded all on the need for unity and also asked all Kotokoli Chiefs in the country to warn their compatriots to refrain from acts of vandalism before, during and after the 2012 parliamentary and presidential elections, scheduled for December this year.

Wuro Salifu Haruna would be formally outdoored to the public after having been introduced to the Ga Mantse and the government at a later date to be announced.

Chiefs and elders present include; Chief of Tamale, Chief Dawuda Adam, Chief Alhaji Asumanu Akondo-Nima North, Chief Abdullah Salifu Sofo-Tema and Chief Abubakari (Buba Jida). Others are Chief Teiru Morla, Chief Abdullah Salifu Sofo-Tema, Chief Asumanu Nyorsijorn -Ahamansu, Chief Gibril Wajana -Asalbotwe and. Chief Sulemana Sanda-Nanakrom. The rest are Chief Djirdaka (Aledjo), Chief Abas, Banya-Madina, Chief Issah of Lashibi and Mohammed Awal Isorfale the Spokesman for Tamale chief.

Also present were Chief Alhaji Mohammed Alhassan Worsi Talibekelenu, Chief Baba Bamba-Achiase, Chief Baba Bamba-Achiase, Chief Salifu Usman Bornyorsi-Ashaiman and the secretary of the Kotokoli chiefs, Moh. Alhassan Jagnai (Red Pepper).
