Dr. Ching-kuo Wu, President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA), will be a special guest at the upcoming 37 th SWAG Awards Night at the Banquet Hall of the State House on June 9.
Also in attendance will be Dr. Abdallah Bessalem, President of the African Boxing Confederation (AFBC).
The two men will be honoured by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) for their sustained efforts in developing and improving the sport in Africa.
Dr. Chin-Kuo Wu has served as a member of various international commissions including the international Olympic academy level, coordination for the XVIII winter Olympic Games, Nagano, Culture and Olympic Education, and Coordination for the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.
He was part of the team in-charge of the evaluation of the 2016 Olympics in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.
Dr. Abdallah Bessalem, after being elected General Secretary of AFBC in 1993 in Tunis, was re-elected in 1997 in Libreville. He was elected President of AFBC in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, in 2001and was re-elected in Lome, Togo in 2006 and Astana, Kazakhstan, in 2010.
He was elected the AIBA Vice President (African Bureau) in 2006 in San Domingo and re-elected in Astana, Kazakhstan, in 2010.
