Tarkwa (W/R), May 19, GNA -The mortuary refrigerator at the Tarkwa Government Hospital in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region has broken down for almost two weeks.
Some of the corpses kept in the mortuary are "going bad" as a result.
Attendants to the hospital these days complain of a pungent smell hanging in the atmosphere especially around the mortuary facility.
The Caretaker of the morgue told newsmen in Tarkwa on Friday that the hospital authorities had been informed and that an electronic expert had been contacted to repair the faulty refrigerator.
The mortuary authorities are contacting relatives whose corpses had been deposited at the morgue for re-negotiation for a new embalming fee since more work and chemicals would be needed to preserve the corpses.
The GNA gathered that the morgue is too small for the many corpses forced into it.
