The Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) is yet to press criminal charges against a 13-year-old girl accused of poisoning her father.
The Junior High School (JHS) student allegedly put poison meant for killing rats into her father's food.
She took the decision to poison her dad for allegedly reprimanding and molesting her.
The suspect, whose name is being withheld, is in police custody.
Public Relations Officer of DOVVSU, DSP Freeman Tettey told Joy News the girl's father realized the colour of his food was different and questioned her but she claimed her stepmother might have mixed it with something.
According to the police officer, when the father questioned the suspect further, she admitted mixing his food with a poisonous substance used in killing rats.
Meanwhile, Joy news has learnt that the father of suspect has sought to withdraw the case from DOVVSU but it is not clear whether his request will be granted by the police.
