Akrokerri (Ash), April 27, GNA - Asare Bediako Senior High School (SHS) at Akrokerri in the Adansi North District has appealed to the Ministry of Education for a bus to enhance the running of the school.
Mr C. W. Nuakoh, the headmaster who made the appeal also said the school needed a 600-bed dormitory for boys and girls and a 3000-seat assembly hall to help solve accommodation problems facing the school.
He said the lack of means of transport was affecting the school's enrolment drive as well as effective participation in sporting activities.
'Asare Bediako SHS is the only school in the Adansi area that has been left out in the distribution of buses to schools by the ministry', he said.
Mr Nuakoh said the school would welcome any contributions from individuals or group no matter its worth since the school needs development.
He thanked the parent-teachers association (PTA) for its commitment to the development and growth of the school saying the 'PTA building when completed will give the school a library, a multi-purpose science laboratory, two additional classrooms and a store'.
The headmaster said two new buildings which are at their final stages of completion have been added to the existing ones which are being rehabilitated to give the school a new look.
Mr Nuakoh said the school's water system was being mechanized whilst furniture for staff and students have been provided.
He said the school was awarded the best agricultural institution during the farmer's day as a result of its intensification of agricultural activities saying 'currently, the school has cultivated six thousand mounds of yam while three fish ponds are ready for harvesting', he said, adding 'last year the school farm produced twenty maxi bags of maize for the kitchen as well as one maxi bag of cowpea and quantity of tomatoes'.
Mr Nuakoh said the ultimate goal of the school was to provide quality education for the students and reiterated his appeal for support.
