The host of Oman FM's flagship programme, “National Agenda”, Fiifi Boafo, has been invited by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to assist with investigations relating to a treason case against Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin North.

His boss, Mr. Agyapong, was arrested last week Monday and detained until Thursday, over comments he made on Mr. Boafo's programme, which were deemed by the security agencies as inflammatory and threatening to the security of the state

Mr. Boafo told The Chronicle that he received a call from the CID on Wednesday, inviting him to assist in investigations into his boss' statement.

He said while on air on Thursday, he had information that CID officials were in the premises of the station, apparently in connection with his invitation, but said he could not leave the live programme to meet them until the break period, by which time the CID officials had left, leaving behind a note for him.

He said he later called the CID office and settled on today Monday 23, April for the crucial meting.

The beleaguered NPP firebrand, Kennedy Agyapong, was invited by the Police CID on Monday, April 16, and upon hours of interrogation, was incarcerated in BNI custody till Wednesday, April 18th.  He was charged with treason felony, terrorism acts, and genocide, and is currently on a GH¢200,000 bail, with two sureties, one to be justified.

His release was finalised after his lawyers dramatically secured two bails in one day.

An Accra High Court 21 finally granted the Assin North MP bail after a legal battle between the state and the embattled MP's team of lawyers.

Earlier in the day, a Human Rights Court, presided over by Justice Kofi Essel-Mensah, granted him bail with two sureties in the sum of GH¢ 200,000, after he was charged on three counts of treason, treason felony and attempted genocide, for declaring 'war'.

Moments after his release, Kennedy Agyapong addressed party sympathisers in Accra, affirming his commitment to stand up for the truth.

“I don't hate any tribe… I don't hate Ewes or Gas,” he said to the teeming crowd.
