The New Patriotic Party UK is calling for an investigation into the Brutal murder and execution of Sherrif Mohammed, Secretary of the NPP Youth wing of the Okai Koi north constituency by alleged supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress. We are shocked and dissatisfied that till now the Police have not arrested anybody neither have they carried out any investigation into this criminal act. It is even shocking that the minister of interior and his deputy did not even condemn this evil act.
We note with interest the speed which the Greater Accra Regional Minister Joesph Nii Afotey Agbo, got the police to investigate the murder of the chief who was killed at oblogo ,near Weija after which police arrested suspects. We wish the minister will apply the same rule to Sherrif Mohammed or can we say Mr Mohammed is not a chief or a member of the NDC that's why the authorities are dragging their feet? If the government and the police want to introduce apartheid in Ghana then they should tell us. We cannot continue to be strangers in our country. The Police know who the killers are so why have they not been arrested?
We also note with concern comments by Mr Patrick Timbilla, a police commander who says we should provide evidence or shut up; a very disappointing statement coming from a person of his calibre. Is it not his responsibility and that of very police officer to investigate crimes and arrest those who break the law?
We call on the international community to stop these human rights abuses been perpetuated by the government of President Mills on members of the opposition all in the name of holding on to power . Our peaceful campaign and our message of hope and prosperity will continue and we dedicate this noble cause to the memory of Sheriff Mohammed and all those who have lost their lives defending truth ,freedom and justice and democracy.
