Agona East undertake more development projects within three year

Agona Nsaba (C/R), March 31, GNA - The Agona East District Assembly has undertaken a number of development projects within the past three years to improve the living standards of the people and promote education.

The projects, costing several thousands of Ghana Cedis, were financed by the GETFund and the District Assembly Common fund.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Area, Mr Martin Luther Obeng said this at the General meeting of the Agona East district Assembly at Agona Nsaba, on Friday.

He mentioned some of the projects as tarring of the 1.3 km Nsaba township roads, two semi-detached nurses' quarters at Kwanyako and school buildings.

He said an ultra-modern 6-unit classroom block with ceiling fans, ICT Laboratory and Teachers' Common room for the Islamic JHS at Agona Nsaba has also been completed and handed over.

The DCE said construction of the Nsaba Community Centre, which will house an ultra-modern ICT centre, is 95 percent complete; adding that, the first and second phases of the Duakwa market is also 90 percent complete.

Mr Obeng said the reconstruction of the demolished Agona Nsaba market has commenced and its currently at the sub-structure level.

He said arrangements for the construction work on a 64-unit ultra-modern bedroom apartment complex to ease housing difficulties of nurses and other civil and public workers within the district, has reached an advance stage.

Mr Obeng said construction of two dormitory blocks for girls at the Nsaba Presbyterian Senior High School have began and is currently at the sub-structure level.

Construction work on two dormitory blocks at Kwanyako Senior High Technical School has also begun he said.

The DCE said the distribution of 200 dual-desks to all needy school in the district is progressing and will hopefully be completed by the end of April this year.

He said a new district Police Headquarters costing GHC3 billion is to be constructed at Agona Duakwa.

The Presiding Member of the Agona East district Assembly Mr Richard Ziggah urged the members not allow politics to divide them.
