Kumasi, March 18, GNA – Kumasi Asante Kotoko beat visiting Sekondi Hasaacas 1-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi, on Sunday to move to the round of 16 in the F/A Cup competition.
It was Kofi Nti Boakye who found the solitary winner for Kotoko in the 59th minute.
Hassacas put up a splendid performance right from the on-set but their efforts to spring a surprise proved futile as the defence of Kotoko warded off all their attempts.
Kotoko playing before a sparse crowd proved to the “Giants of the West” that they were the league leaders and on many occasions won the exchanges to prove their dominance.
Kotoko could have won by wider margin, but missed several opportunities that came their way especially in the first half, though Hassaacas made occasional efforts at finding the net.
On resumption, both teams improved on their performance but it was Kotoko who had the better part of the game and managed the loan goal victory.
Hassacas accepted the challenge and fought gallantly but was unable to level up.
