A Commercial Court of the High Court in Accra has ruled that the state can amend its writ of summons and statement of claim regarding the civil case involving embattled businessman Alfred Woyome.
The judge Barbara Akayensu awarded costs of GhC 2,000 against the state for delaying the case and fixed March 26 to hear it.
Woyome is facing fraud charges in the controversial GhC 51 million judgment debt payment.
He has pleaded not guilty and granted bail in the sum of GhC 20 million.
According to the Attorney-General's Department, Woyome obtained the judgment debt through fraudulent means and the latest ruling will allow it to amend its writ of summons and statement of claim to include the element of fraud against Woyome.
The A-G is currently in court seeking an order for the refund of the judgment debt of GH¢51,283,480.59 paid to Woyome because it was procured by fraudulent means.
