Ofoase-Kokoben (Ash), Feb. 27, GNA – Mr Joseph Kwabena Onyinah, Ashanti Regional Education Director, has called on those serving on boards of Senior High Schools to be conversant with the code of conduct of the Ghana Education Service.

He said they should also strive to acquire some reasonable amount of knowledge about acceptable trends in labour relations and that this would help them to competently discharge their duties.

Mr Onyinah said this when inaugurating an 11-member of board of governors chaired by Mr Kwame Twumasi-Ankrah, of the Ofoase-Kokoben Senior High School (SHS) at Kokoben in the Asante-Bekwai Municipality.

He said “every decision you take, every sanction you apply or every procedure you adopt, must always be in accordance with the law, democratic practices and the code of discipline and ethics of the GES.”

He appealed to them to work hard to protect school lands, lobby for more infrastructure development and facilities to improve academic performance.

Mr Onyinah reminded them to assist the headmasters to govern the schools but not to usurp their authority.

Mr Samuel Ansah, the out-going Municipal Education Director, drew attention to the need to enforce discipline in the schools.

The Chief of the town, Nana Amankwa Kodom, presented cash of GH¢2,000 to support the school's library and pledged additional land for expansion of the SHS.
