Lending a hand to the underprivileged in society should be a regular exercise of corporate Ghana and other individuals.
This practice, according to the Senior Pastor of London-based Heaven Light Chapel International, will support the government's effort at alleviating poverty.
Rev. John Blessed Quansah says charitable activities are mandatory for the fulfillment of scripture and the command of Jesus Christ.
He spoke to Luv News when the Chapel reached out to the Kumasi Children's Home with educational materials, food items and cash donation.
“We are doing this based on the scriptures, on the statement of Jesus particular that if you do it for your brother you do it for Him,” said the Minister.
Rev. Quansah has charged the church of Christ to emulate other non-Christians who have made the act of giving a regular exercise, to ensure that “the people who are naked, people who need food and drink and all the basis support are accorded the needs attention”.
The Christian community abroad, he observed, is very much concerned about the need to share their wealth with people outside of their own immediate families.
“If your family back home is depending on you, you can imagine how much some orphanage homes need some individuals' support and endeavours to be able to keep up” he observed.
He described as unfortunate the non-availability of strong social support services and structures for the less-endowed in Ghana, but believes government can be aided through individual and corporate projects.
“Because the Lord we are serving we've not seen Him before. He is in Heaven and we believe in Him, we have faith in Him. So what He requires us to do is to always lend a hand to those who are underprivileged,” noted Rev. Quansah.
