MTN Academy Reloaded 5 Final Sunday

By Daily Graphic

The organizers of the MTN Soccer Academy Reloaded 5 Optimum Media Prime(OMP) has revealed that the stage is set for the grand finale of the soccer reality show this Wednesday 25th January 2012 at the Ridge House.

Two potential winners of the MTN Soccer Academy “Reloaded 5”, Manfred Smith Osei and Abdul Karim, have bowed out in the last eviction show.

The two, after surviving previous evictions were given a shock exit before a big crowd that had gathered at the Academy House to witness the final eviction.

With Osei and Karim out, the stage is now set for Kobina Essien, Godwin Gakpo, Joseph Adams, Gabriel Darko and Bernard Gyimah to battle for supremacy.

Surviving teammates Kobina Essien (7), Godwin Gakpo(3), Joseph Adams(8), Gabriel Darko (14) and Bernard Gyimah(4) appear ready for the showdown.

Certainly, the winner will go down in the Academy’s history books as one of the ‘firsts’ after Gideon Baah, Godwin Sowu, Arago Jamal and Awal Mohammed had blazed the trail of the competition which has become a permanent fixture on the calendar of OMP.

And, at stake for the winner is a 4x4 Hyundai ix35 donated by Auto Plaza, sole agents of Hyundai vehicles in the country, summer training tour with English giants Liverpool and Chelsea as well as a mouthwatering ¢10,000 cash prize.

The first runner-up will also drive home a Hyundai i10 salon car and a cash prize.

As usual, there will be musical performances by hip life artists who are expected to thrill fans on the ‘D’ day.

For the first time in the history of the only soccer reality show in the country, the 14 teamates spent their Christmas holidays in the House and received excellent tutelage from young but high profile coaches- David Duncan and Augustine Arhinful.

And, after their 80-day stint in the House, the coaches believe they have imparted great soccer lessons into the players, and are hopeful that the winners will be worthy ambassadors in their respective European trials.

Meanwhile in a friendly encounter, Darko hit the back of the net four times to lift his tally to 27 goals, when the teammates thrashed Tullow Oil FC 6-0 to set a new record in the competition, while Essien and Gakpo scored one apiece.

Gyimah finally took over the captainship of the House
