The Society for the Aged Ghana (SOFAAR), a non-governmental and non-profit making organisation which promotes the well-being of older persons in the Ghanaian society, has received foods items, minerals and an undisclosed amount of money from a group of donors.

They include Kojac Pharma, a pharmaceutical company, Kwasi Oppong Company, the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Donyma Company Limited, Bantama Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) and Presbyterian Church.

The donation was intended to put a smile on the faces of the aged during the Christmas festivities.

The Managing Director of Kojac Pharma, Mr. Kojo Acheampong, who presented the items to SOFAAR on behalf of other donors, appealed to corporate entities to support the aged.

He also appealed to the government to assist the aged enjoy the rest of their lives.

Mr. Acheampong further called on members of parliament to support the aged in their various constituencies, who are carried to polling stations to vote during elections.

According to him, one good turn deserves another, and since the aged are part of their (MPs) success story, they should provide the needed support when the need arises.

The Chief Executive Officer of SOFAAR, Rev. John Kwabena Aduboffuor, also expressed his appreciation to the donors.

He explained that the mission of the organisation was to advance the interest and welfare of older persons in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, regardless of sex creed and colour, and to create public awareness on ageing issues and the problems facing elderly persons.
