DEATH OF OUR CONTAFRIKALANGUAGE or THE CRISIS OF HOW CONTAFRIKANS ARE KEPT IGNORANT OF THEIR ANCESTRAL CONTINENTAL AFRIKALANGUAGE/LINGUA FRANCA ,
By (c) 2012 by Prof. Afrikadzata Deku, Docteur d'Etat; Doctorat d'Etat (PhD); [email protected];
Another common serious crisis dehumanizing the Bulk of today's Continental/Diaspora Afrikan World and People is our tragic loss of our common Continental Afrikan language spoken by our Ancient Afrikans in Continental Afrikans for over 3,000 years and which is considered the world's First Human language on earth and the Mother of all today's Languages in the world and about which we today's Foreignized Continental/Diaspora Afrikan World and People know little or nothing about and will dismiss it as a lie or crazy idea which is what we learned and have been learning and mastering in all our past and present slave/colonial/neocolonial educational factories to turn Afrikans into a pro-Foreign and totally self-ignorant Afrikans who know everything about others but know little or nothing about our Glorious Continental AfrikaPast, Culture, Identity, Language, Power and
In other words, what has become of our common Continental AfrikaLanguage, the mother of today's world languages?
Continental China still has a common language that unites one billion human beings on earth.
Continental Russia has one common language that is spoken and understood by all Soviets no matter where they are.
Indians of over one billion human beings are still able to preserve , promote and use one Common Indian Language of which they are proud and will do anything within their power to keep it that way and will never in any circumstances prefer any colonial language to their own language
Jews all over the world have not lost their common language - Hebrew - that ensures their unity and pride everywhere they find themselves.
Arabs, in spite of their internal conflicts, are united as one people by their common Arabic language that they will do anything on earth to protect and defend against any possible loss.
The French have one common French language to strengthen them as a people.
The British boasts of their common language as the Power behind their feats in the world.
Continental Japanese hold on to their common Japanese language as a life and death matter.
Germans, Italians, Spanish, Portuguese, etc. each has their own languages and of which they are proud and ' will do everything to defend and preserve for life.
But when we come to the Continental Afrikan World, once again, we are confronted with the greatest language crisis ever faced by any people on earth.
The tragedy of the fact that today's Continental Afrika, one time the proud Mother of the first language in the world
and the Mother of today's world languages had no common language to unify her children at Home and Abroad.
And yet for 50,000 years long before any of the existing European or Asian languages and people, Continental Afrikans were united by a common Continental Afrikan language spoken and understood by all children of Mother Continental Afrika.
But today, colonialism/foreign invasions and rapes have succeeded in transforming Continental Afrikans into the only people on earth without a common Afrikalanguage.
Constant attempts to escape foreign invasions have led Continental Afrikans to migrate to different directions leading to divisions in Continental Afrika's common Afrikalanguage.
Western colonial power made matters worse by their deliberate rejection of our various Afrikan languages as "barbaric", "uncivilized" and good-for-nothing.
Only their languages, English, French, Portuguese and German were considered languages.
All Afrikan languages, major and minor were dismissed and KILLED as "dialects."
And yet most of these Continental Afrikan languages such as Zulu, Ashanti, Hausa, Ibo, Yoruba, Somalis, Fulani, etc. are spoken by proud pre-slavery and pre-colonial Afrikan nations and empires ranging from 30 to 150 million Afrikans each.
Consequently, the systematic use of Afrikan languages by colonized Afrikans in Continental Afrika has been forbidden.
I remember as early as 1965-1970, it was a taboo and a crime punishable by public caning for one to be caught speaking one's maternal Afrikan language.
In this way, for hundred years, Continental Afrikans have been conditioned into thinking and accepting the colonial lie that there is something wrong in speaking Continental Afrikan.
At the same time, they are programmed into believing the lie that speaking English, French, German or Portuguese is being "modern", "civilized," "developed," and "polished."
Soon, a new class of "leaders" and "scholars" have been created by colonial powers based only on their ability to speak and master foreign languages presented to them as the only option to a "better" life. Making our pre-slavery and pre-colonial NATIONAL Afrikan languages politically, economically and socially non-viable and useless, European languages have succeeded in reducing Continental Afrikans into a people without a common Afrikalanguage of their creation and common use.
There more one loves these foreign languages the more rewards one gets.
The more one hates and shuns away from one's own maternal Afrikan language the more "modern" and "respected" one becomes.
The more one praises these imposed colonial languages, the more successful one becomes. The more one is committed to their usage and preservation, the more popular "linguist" one become.
And the more one makes sure no Afrikan languages are used in our schools and universities, the more one's chances of becoming the most respectable "statesman" in "modern" Continental Afrika.
This explains why up till today, especially in the French speaking Continental Afrika, only French is taught from Kindergarten to the University.
Even nearly fifty years after Afrika's "independence," leaders and scholars in French speaking Continental Afrika do not see anything basically wrong and tragic with a generation of Continental Afrikans who cannot speak their maternal Afrikan languages let alone write them.
Even in English-speaking Continental Afrika where our various Afrikan languages are taught along-side other subjects, English is still the official language used throughout all schools and universities.
At "independence," all "African" leaders in exception the Swahili speaking Eastern Afrikan countries, saw no crime against making French and English and Portuguese the lingua franca of their various colonial-inherited countries.
In North Continental Afrika, another foreign language, Arabic, has also robbed the North Afrikans of their common Continental Afrikan language.
Likewise, Portuguese-speaking Continental Afrikans are also deprived of their rights to a common National Afrikan language which once united them in the past. Only Swahili remains the only common Regional Afrikan language that has successfully withstood the pressures and curse of foreign languages.
And even this, many critics consider it as more foreign than Continental Afrikan.
Simply because Swahili is considered by some as nothing but a mixture of Afrikan Languages with Arab language and European languages but even then, it is still an Afrikan Creation spoken with pride and dignity by more than one hundred million Afrikans in East , South and Central Afrika .
So, by successfully fragmenting all the major Afrikan languages into different countries, colonial powers and their puppets in Continental Afrika have succeeded in keeping Continental Afrikan languages under check and dead.
Even though it is now possible to study some of our major Afrikan languages in some of our Universities, foreign languages have all the state power and commitment to their rapid development, growth and expansion in Continental Afrika.
While everything is done to keep Afrikan languages neglected, forgotten, stagnant, less used, less developed, less enriched, less promoted and less proud of.
Consequently, most " African" leaders or scholars today in Continental Afrika are committed one way or the other to the use and promotion of imposed colonial languages as "indispensable universal languages without which Continental Afrika will be totally lost."
Most, if not all them believe in the colonial lie that our Afrikan languages are good-for-nothing.
To rely on them is to get nowhere. While Japanese, Soviets, French, Chinese, Germans, Arabs etc. believe and trust their various languages to take them anywhere in the world, "modern" African leaders cannot think of developing let along having one common Continental Afrikan language of their own to replace the existing colonial languages they so much love and are proud of.
This explains why the Organization of Continental African Unity now turned into a toothless African Union , nearly 60 years after "independence" is yet to commission Continental Afrikan linguists to create a common Continental Afrikan alphabet from which a common Continental Afrikan language will be born for the use and benefits of all Continental Afrikans.
But the enslavement and imprisonment of our leaders by foreign/ colonial languages will not allow our present leaders to see the need let alone fight for the urgent replacement of the existing colonial languages with our own-created Continental Afrikan lingua franca.
Linguistic colonialism has deprived our leaders of their power to trust in their ability as Continental Afrikans to endow Mother Continental Afrika a common language that once made her glory.
Right, "modern" Continental Afrika's obsession with foreign languages at the expense of a Continental Afrikan language is so deep that any serious attempt by anyone to replace their beloved foreign languages will be met by serious opposition on their parts.
Because the present elite know very well without English, French or Portuguese, they will be nothing in Continental Afrika.
So to preserve their own personal and selfish interests they will do everything within their power to guarantee the continuous use of foreign languages.
And the more committed they are to the total preservation of the very languages that rob Continental Afrikans of their Continental Afrikan language, the more rewards they get from their colonial masters.
That is why Leopold Sedar Senghor has been rewarded for life (immortalized) as the first "African" leader and scholar to serve in the French Academy as the most faithful and zealous defender and promoter of the French language.
Professor Wole Soyinka has also become the first “African" writer/scholar to be awarded the First Nobel Prize in “African" Literature.
That is, for doing so much honour and justice to the English language. It is therefore no surprise to hear that about 90 percent of the privileged few we call "African" writers cannot write in their own Afrikan languages and who write for approval, recognition, awards, money and praise from their Foreign readers than their from their own Continental Afrikan Readers, 99% of whom don't even know their " Afrikan " writers exist or who they are .
In other words, they prefer and will defend and promote the use of foreign languages in Continental Afrika because those are the only languages they could use. Without foreign languages, 90 percent of our today's literary "giants" will be zero.
That is why they are more known, more accepted, more applauded, more rewarded by foreigners and foreign powers than their own Continental Afrikan people they cannot communicate with.
Yet we as well as they know that a people without a language of their own are dead people.
By becoming slaves and prisoners of imposed foreign languages, today's Continental Afrikans have given up their rights to develop, have, use and benefit from The Power of one Continental Afrikan Lingua Franca.
By passively transforming themselves into linguistic dependents and peripheries, "modern" leaders and puppets in Continental/Diaspora AfrikaWorld have succeeded in turning an entire Continental Afrikan people into a people without a COMMON CONTINENTAL AFRIKALANGUAGE/LINGUA to unify , empower, develop for their benefits as Continental China, Russian, USA, India Countries and Govts have for the benefits of all their people. .
"Modern" Continental Afrika is suffering from linguistic colonialism. The linguistic liberation of all Continental Afrikans from the tyranny of foreign imposed languages is not only a must be a sacred duty for all Continental Afrikans worthy of the name.
