Court remands unemployed for unlawful entry, stealing

Takoradi, Nov. 29, GNA - Takoradi Circuit Court “A” on Tuesday remanded George Akpabli, unemployed, for unlawful entry and stealing.

The accused, who pleaded guilty, is to re-appear on December 8 this year.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Alice Parker-Wilson, said at about 0200 hours on November 16 this year, a witness in the case was driving a Nissan Urvan Bus from Shama to Shama Junction when the accused stopped him at Shama Newsite.

She said the witness stopped and picked the accused, who was carrying a flat screen monitor and a polythene bag.

Chief Inspector Parker-Wilson said the witness became suspicious and drove the bus with other passengers on board to the Shama Police Station.

She said when the Police interrogated the accused, he could not give any tangible reason how he came by the items.

Chief Inspector Parker-Wilson said about five hours later, one Steven Baidoo resident at Shama reported that somebody had broken into his flat and stolen his flat screen monitor, Nokia phones, phone batteries and credit cards.

She said the items carried by the accused were shown to the complainant, who identified them as his.

Chief Inspector Parker-Wilson said the accused was charged with the offence after further investigations.
