A night police patrol team has shot and killed a 25 year old trader at the Adum suburb of Kumasi.

According to an eye witness, the deceased, Kofi Asamoah, had a brawl with some prostitutes in the area. In the process the ladies stabbed him with broken bottles - he ran aloof in search of an object to retaliate.

The police had then been called in to effect arrest, but when they arrived the situation had been brought under control.

However, when the deceased was accosted to enter into the police van, he resisted and insisted the police also arrest the lady who had stabbed him.

The eyewitness says in apparent nervousness from the oozing of blood, the deceased stood up in desperation to run but one of the officers ordered that he be shot.

He got shot and whilst on the ground he exclaimed “I've not stolen and you've shot to kill me”. He died there.

Police in Kumasi however claim the deceased attempted to stab a military officer on the patrol team and shot in self-defense.
