Akuapem Presbytery presents vehicle to headmaster

Suhum, July 11, GNA - The Akuapem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has presented a brand new Renault Duster cross country vehicle to the Headmaster of the Suhum Presbyterian Senior High School (SHS) to facilitate his work.

Making the presentation during a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meeting of the school at the weekend, Reverend Dr Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, Chairperson for the Akuapem Presbytery, said the donation was part of the Presbytery's five-year development plan to ensure that all SHS heads within the presbytery got vehicles to facilitate their movement.

He said under the plan the Presbytery would also put up bungalows for teachers starting from all the chaplains making sure that the proverbial Presbyterian discipline and the fear of God was instilled in the students.

Rev. Dr Mante said as part of the Church's efforts to solve accommodation problems in the schools, the Presbytery would put up dormitories in all the SHS for both boys and girls.

He therefore commended government for a two- storey girl's dormitory being constructed for the school and urged the contractor to speed up work.

Rev. Dr Mante expressed concern about reports of homosexuals and lesbianism invading educational institutions in the country and urged heads of institutions and teachers to be vigilant and monitor the students and bring all those involved in those practices out.

He appealed to parents to instill the fear of God in their children, which was the only way to end such unbiblical behaviour.

Mr Samuel Danso, Headmaster of the school, expressed his appreciation to the Church for the kind gesture and said the vehicle would serve a great purpose for his administration.

He said another major problem confronting the school was lack of school bus which made it difficult for the students to travel outside Suhum to take part in sporting and other extra curricula activities.

Mr Danso said the school had written several letters to the Ministry of Education over the past four years for a vehicle but all to no avail and appealed to the government to, as a matter of urgency, give the school a bus.
