Education Minister Betty Mould Iddrisu says her years of experience in politics could enable her achieve her greatest ambition of becoming president or the second in command.
The former Attorney General and Minister of Justice said this when she featured on the Personality Profile segment of Joy FM's Drive Time show on Thursday.
In a wide ranging interview Mrs. Mould Iddrissu spoke about her life, marriage and political ambitions. She told host Bola Ray she would strive to the top.
It also appears her movement from the pressure-packed Justice Ministry to the Education Ministry now gives her more time to 'relax.'
“My day now is less frenetic than it used to be when I was Attorney General. With the Attorney General's position you can get called from 5 am when I open my eyes then I might have as many as 20 or 30 missed calls from radio stations…yeah! Radio stations from all over the country…
“And they get very indignant; not all of them are as nice as you Bola. You know some of them get indignant when you are sleepy at 6 am,” she told host Bola Ray.
“So I'm [cooler] now and I try to exercise, I work out a couple of times a week before I go to work.”
She also tells of how her desire to serve her country makes her do what she does.
“I've always been driven; I've always had the desire to do a lot for my country, especially, for the women of my country – to be a role model, you know, to teach they way, to show women that they can achieve the almost impossible,” she said.
And it appears she draws that desire from her mom, an Ashanti, who had the urge to strive to the top.
“I come from that background where the women strive for success; where the women are actually the hub of the family. And I wanted to transcend family and go into the workforce and it happened for me.”
On why she speaks so well, Mrs Mould Iddrisu simply says she has been “a prolific reader.”
