January 18, 2011 Efasu (W/R), Jan. 18, GNA - The National Gas Infrastructure Taskforce, has visited the Osagyefo Power Badge at Efasu in the Jomoro District of the Western Region, to acquaint themselves of the gas infrastructural project.
The Chairman of the Task Force, Dr Kwesi Botchwey indicated that the Osagyefo badge, a 125mg power plant, was a strategic asset for the country.
The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle and Deputy Minister of Energy, Mr Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, who is a member of the task force, noted that the visit would accord the taskforce the opportunity to explore the options with the Attorney General's (A-G's) office to settle the protracted dispute between the government of Ghana and Balkan Energy to put the plant to good use for the benefit of Ghana.
He commended the A-G's office for the handling of the dispute and called for a way out of the legal hurdles to pave way for a technical audit to refurbish the barge.
The Managing Director of Ghana National Petroleum Company, Mr Asafo Adjei and a member of the Gas taskforce expressed the company's commitment to the development of the gas infrastructural project.
