January 13, 2011 Takoradi, Jan. 13, GNA - Madam Betty Busumtwi-Sam, Deputy Western Regional Minister, has called on banks to establish links with oil companies in the country to develop their businesses.

She made the call at the fourth monthly "Go for Gold" draw of the Fidelity Bank at Takoradi on Wednesday.

Madam Busumtwi-Sam, speaking as the guest of honour, said banks needed to take advantage of the numerous opportunities that would be generated by the oil industry.

She said the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) was prepared to collaborate with financial institutions in the Region to provide support services to auxiliary firms that would emerge from the oil companies.

Madam Busumtwi-Sam commended the Fidelity bank for initiating the draw to encourage savings in the area.

She said there was the need for people to cultivate the habit of savings in order to lay the foundation for an independent and comfortable future.

Without savings, she said, many people would not be able to undertake any meaningful investment.
