Christian Service University sets pace in ICT deployment
15.12.2010 LISTEN

The Christian Service University College (CSUC) in Kumasi is projecting the deployment of cutting-edge information communication technologies (ICTs) for value-creation in educational delivery.

The institution is developing a holistic ICT policy to leverage its administrative and teaching and learning objectives through application of technology.

Administrators, faculty, students and other interest groups at the College have been meeting to produce a professional guideline and infrastructure for an efficient ICT set up.

An ICT Advisory Board has subsequently been inaugurated to formulate and coordinate ICT strategic plans in the University College.

Professor Emmanuel Frempong, President of the University College, tells Luv Fm ICTs are key to addressing challenges in educational infrastructure development and critical in the transformation process of world-class universities.

“Now every academic institution if you need to expand requires ICT; e-learning has become part and parcel of educational processes, where you need to be able to sit in your office, sit in your house and access education. We called them now 'education without walls'… so you can invest in ICT and through that educate thousands of people”, he emphasized.

Prof. Frempong says the ultimate objective of the CSUC ICT deployment is to prepare students for the world of work “because without this it is now very difficult to do any meaningful job in this current world”.

Chairman of the CSUC Council, Prof. Sam Afranie, tasked the ICT Advisory Board to adopt innovative and creative concepts to achieve results.
