British Council ‘Brings the Noise’ to Kumasi

The British Council is partnering Luv 99.5 Fm in a competition to unearth new talents in the creative industry with specific focus on music for character building.

The talent hunt dubbed “Bring the Noise” offers a platform for the youth in Kumasi and other parts of the country to sing or rap on a theme with culture and identity.

Seventy contestants have been battling it out in the studios of Luv Fm to be crowned the 'Bring the Noise' Ambassador. Five finalists, BFK, Kento, Short Code, Guy Jesus and Teejay, have emerged and are gearing up for a final live concert on Friday, December 17, 2010 on the Bantama High Street.

Northern Sector Manager of the British Council, Bridget Konadu Gyamfi, emphasized “Culture and Identity as a tool that promotes unity among people and the appreciation of people from all cultures irrespective of background or location. Bring the Noise draws on these talents and focus on unity among people.

“British Council is a UK International Organisation for education and cultural relations that builds engagement and trust between the people in UK and Ghana. This programme forms part of our cultural relations work in the Arts/Creative industry hence through our Arts work, we promote appreciation of culture between people in Ghana and the UK. Bring the Noise fulfills this objective.”

Event coordinator at Luv Fm, Nana Banyin Anumel says the ultimate winner would be chosen by a panel of judges and the public, adding that the finalists will be winning attractive cash prizes, DVD players, ghetto blasters and record deals.

Ms Konadu Gyamfi says there is a wider opportunity for the new talents to showcase talents during Arts festivals in all 110 operational countries of the British Council.

“We hope this will be an annual event which will be organized to support the creative industry and develop new talents in Ghana. The winner and runner up get to participate in our prestigious Creative Enterprise Training Programme as well as become Ambassador for the Ashanti region at all British Council organized events”, she stated.
