The school was established by a philanthropist and Senior Preacher at the Takoradi Central Churches of Christ, Brother Daniel Owusu-Asiamah, to extend a helping hand to the needy and orphaned in society.
According to Bro. Asiamah, Director of the school, he had spent a total of GH¢100,000 on the training of the students, who paid nothing throughout the three years they spent at the institute.
The Chronicle thinks what the man of God has done deserves commendation, because apart from free tuition that he gave the children, each of them was also given basic equipment to practice the trade he or she was trained for.
This paper believes that what Brother Asiamah has done is in fulfillment of God's command to show affection to the needy in society.
There are so many churches in this country that could have easily emulate what the Churches of Christ leader is doing, but they have allowed material gains to overshadow this laudable initiative.
The development of this country does not lie in the hands of the government alone, and we expect religious groups in this country to play a major role.
Giving free tuition to children, and at the end of the course, buy for them equipment to start life, is surely one of the many ways to eliminate poverty in the country.
The Chronicle is aware that some of the churches have established universities across the country, but the big question is whether these universities are accessible to the needy in society?
We believe that it is about time these universities, set up by religious institutions start to think about how to give free tuition to the needy, as their counterparts from the Churches of Christ have done.
It is our hope that Brother Asiamah and his church would continue with what they have started, since it is also service to God.
