The Mamprobi Salvation Army ‘A’ Primary School and Mamprobi North ‘4’ Primary School have won competitions on domestic violence.

The competitions, which were based on issues relating to domestic violence took place at the Salvation Army Church at Mamprobi.

Each of the competing schools in the quiz was represented by two pupils from either Class Five or Six. Another group of pupils who took part in a drawing contest were drawn from classes three and four.

The competitions were organised by the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) and Projects Abroad, a non-governmental organisation (NGO).

The Mamprobi Salvation Army ‘A’ Primary, which was represented by Rebecca Asare and Michael Mensah, beat Mamprobi North ‘1’ Primary to second place, while Mamprobi Salvation Army ‘B’ Primary came third. Mamprobi North ‘2’ Primary, Mamprobi North ‘4’ Primary and Ebenezer ‘2’ Primary took the fourth, fifth and sixth positions, respectively.

In the poster/drawing competition, Philip Ohene, a Class Three pupil of Mamprobi North ‘4’ Primary, had his art work selected as the best out of the over 100 entries by pupils from the participating schools.

The Public Relations Officer of DOVVSU, Ms Irene Oppong, said the competitions were used to find out the impact of the domestic violence campaign on the children.

She said the first phase of the campaign was used to educate the participating schools on various forms of domestic violence, the dangers and preventive measures to make children aware of the problem.

The Country Director of Project Abroad, Mr Tom Davis, congratulated the winners and all participating schools on a keen competition.
