We have more 100 brands of pure water in the market these days. Why? this small country? Why should we allow anybody at all to produce water for us to drink? Can't we be at least a little bit health conscious?

Most of these companies produce any type of water and send it to the market to sell. How we do know the right amounts of chlorine is put in these water?

To remove bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms, almost all city water companies add chlorine to the water. However, artificial chlorination is highly toxic to human beings and animals.

Some researchers assert that chlorination of the drinking water is a major causes of heart attacks and hardening of the arteries that occurred beginning in the early 20th century. Chlorination of drinking water probably also contributes to cancer and other illnesses, as chlorine is so toxic.

Imagine taking 2 glasses of polluted water every morning, what will be of the person within 20years? The Government must invest in Good drinking water. He should set agencies who will visit the water producing factories regularly to check whether they are giving us the right water to drink. These water producing companies should pay tax, they should have licensed and before giving them the licensed, the agencies in authority should visit the place and know whether they can produce good drinking water. Anybody who is into water production should have a certain level of education. We hear so many rumours as most of these water production are done just in a room because they don't want people to know about it. The agencies should make sure every production have a detail of the companies' information- address, telephone number and others on the sachet. Some of the water in the market don't even have a name.

I got to know that, we now even have fake water in the market, as they write other known company names on the sachet which is not true.

We can't continue patronizing these polluted water anymore. It is high time, we focus on quality health check. We should try to be health conscious. Ghana is growing and our quality health check must also grow as well.

Water Tips
HOW MUCH AND WHEN TO DRINK?
The amount of water is as important as the quality of the water. However, more of a poor quality water will actually do more damage.

Drinking
a high quality water, one will need less to hydrate the body. In general, an adult needs about three quarts or more of drinking water per day. More is needed in hot weather, dry weather and if one is more physically active or weighs over 200 pounds. Drinking a lot more water is not necessary or healthful.

As part of one's water intake, it is fine to include tea or even an occasional cup of good coffee without anything added to it. However, adding sugar, cream, lemon and other things does alter the quality of the water. This is why many books state clearly not to use anything but water.

Soda pop, fruit juices and other beverages should not be counted in your water intake schedule. The sugars or toxic chemicals added to many beverages ruin even the best water source.

How to drink. An excellent way to begin your day is to drink many glasses of heated water upon arising in the morning. This will supply you for hours and you won t have to think about how much to drink all day long. Drinking a number of glasses of heated water will often help with constipation, as well. Otherwise, it is best to drink about two glasses of water between meals. Keep the amount of water at the meals low, so as not to dilute the digestive juices. Drinking after about 6 PM can cause men, in particular, to be up urinating during the night, which is not helpful for resting and sleep.

In order to maintain health, the kidneys must excrete a minimum of ten ounces of waste per day. When water is not available, there is nothing present in which to dissolve the body's waste products (uric acid and urea) for expulsion. As a result, they build up within the body, leading to kidney stones, while putting additional strain on the kidneys to find adequate liquid with which to expel toxins.

*
The explanation for strong smelling or dark urine could simply be that you are not drinking enough water and your urine is very concentrated.

*
The same applies to skin odor. If you feel that a bad odor persists on your skin even after bathing, this is the result of too much accumulation of toxins. Drinking more water will aid in eliminating them from the system.

Replacing water with soda, diet soda, coffee, tea, or alcohol won't work as well - especially if the beverage produces a diuretic effect. (alcohol actually, produces dehydration).

If you don't like the taste of plain water, try putting lemon, lime or an orange slice in your glass.
