Master craftsmen trained in modern auto mechanics

Master craftsmen from across the country are undergoing series to training in modern automotive engineering.

The certification programme, organized by the Council for Technical, Vocational Education and Training (COTVET), is aimed at salvaging the local automobile industry.

It is designed to create jobs through increased knowledge in computer-based vehicular repairs and maintenance.

The first training session on motor vehicle mechanics was hosted by the Kumasi Technical Institute. Facilitators observed the need for local mechanics to get abreast with new electronic vehicles coming into the system.

Head of KTI's Automotive Department, Francis Gyamfi is hopeful the capacity-building program would enhance the operations local artisans as well as contribute to a reduction in road accidents.

Trainees appealed for support in the acquisition of auto-diagnostic tools to facilitate the application of acquired skills and knowledge.
