
THE ADANSI North District Assembly has decided to construct 12 new schools - eight primary and four Junior High Schools - within six months, to help increase school enrolment in the district.
The District Chief Executive (DCE), Alhaji Madjoub Latif, disclosed at a durbar at Adansi Kosa, that the Assembly would go by its target.
He said in order to achieve the objective of promoting education to play its role in nation-building, the Assembly had also decided to celebrate a Best Teacher award this year, to enable it stand tall in terms of good results.
According to him, the Assembly was promoting sports by providing footballs and jerseys to schools to motivate and boost the moral of the pupils and teachers.
To instill discipline in the school children, and encourage better academic performance, the Assembly has banned children of school-going age from video shows, participating in wake-keepings and patronising drinking bars.
He appealed to the government and Ghana Education Service (GES) to help the area, by posting more trained teachers there.
