THE INFORMER NEWSPAPER MUST STOP ITS VULGAR JOURNALISM NOW!!
25 DEC 2009 LISTEN

In fact I am sometimes amazed at the way some newspapers and journalist use insults and threats as a means of carrying out information to the public especially in their quest to make their views known. However “The Informer Newspaper” is now the worst culprit when it comes to the journalistic usage of vulgarism in Ghana thus with its columnist “Okyeame on the Beat” leading the way.

I have followed a lot of columnists in Ghana for some years now and although most of them use invectives in their works; they do it so tactfully that it sometimes becomes very difficult to notice the real meaning on its facial value. However this columnist [i.e. Okyeame on the Beat] I'm talking about always throws insults, innuendos, lies and threats around in a very infantile and ridiculous manner that; I'm sometimes forced to ask myself if this newspaper [The Informer Newspaper] has an editor. Indeed the columnist [i.e. Okyeame on the Beat] has never written a single article without insulting, attacking a personality or threatening people here and there.

Well I'm sometimes tempted to believe that the columnist [i.e. Okyeame on the Beat] has nothing to talk about so all he or she does is to take up a personality and vilify him or her just to fill up that column in its newspaper. Thus you can think of any kind of word that is appalling to be used on anybody and “Okyeame on the Beat” would be more than willing to use it in any of articles without any sense of shame or apology to anybody. “Okyeame on the Beat” would not even hesitate to leave your family or friends out when he starts to shower on you his insults. In fact their [The Informer Newspaper] news desk reporters are also addicted to a similar style in the reportage and it points to the fact that their editor endorses the usage of such a bellicose and infantile style in their journalism.

For now all I can say to them [The Informer Newspaper] is that; “Absurdity will always triumph whenever the pen outraces the brain”. Yes, they [The Informer Newspaper] have the right to say and write whatever they want but like every right; it comes with a responsibility. And until we learn to exercise our rights in tandem with our responsibilities; absurdity will always have its way. Thus a little common sense should be involved anytime they [The Informer Newspaper] want to embark on an insulting spree.

However, I am expecting you [Okyeame on the Beat] to descend on me as usual with your vulgarism so I will be more than willing to hear from you [Okyeame on the Beat] in any ridiculous manner not forgetting your empty threats.
