Ablekuma Central MP receives commendation for development efforts

Accra, Dec. 14, GNA - Mr Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, Member of Parliament for Ablekuma Central, has been commended for his commitment towards the provision of educational and road infrastructure in the area.

He was commended by the Chief Imam of Sukura, Alhaji Salim Abubakar and the Reverend Solomon Peterson of the Methodist Church at the inauguration of a 6,000 Ghana- Cedi office for the community at the weekend.

The office would offer the people the opportunity to meet the MP to bridge the communication gap with his constituents.

Mr Chaie also used the occasion to donate computers with printers and other accessories estimated at 16,000 Ghana Cedis to the Dansoman and the Korle Bu Police stations and the Ablekuma Sub-Metro Education Office.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at the function, he said the provision and improvement of educational and road infrastructure was his focus during his campaign to seek the mandate of the people to represent them in Parliament.

Mr Chaie said it was his belief that the provision of such social services to improve the lives of the people was a long term investment in the human resource development, which would benefit a broad section of the public.

The MP recalled the inauguration of three traffic lights at the cost of 40,000 Ghana Cedis in the constituency by Vice President John Dramani Mahama, which showed government's commitment towards the development of the area.

He also mentioned the 8.5-million-Euro road project linking Sukura and Zambrama Line through Dansoman and Chemu.

Mr Chaie had also stocked the Laterbiokorshie Library with books worth 30,000 Ghana Cedis to enhance teaching and learning in the area and provided skill training for the youth in tailoring, dressmaking and hairdressing.

The MP had constructed an eight seater Water Closet toilet for the New Abossey Okai One Junior High School at the cost of 30,000 Ghana Cedis and provided street lights estimated at 10,000 Ghana Cedis while the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) supported his initiative with 50,000 Ghana Cedis.

Mr Chaie described sanitation as the "Greatest challenge" confronting the area and said he had spent 10,800 Ghana cedis this year in the effort to keep the environment clean.

The Commander of the Dansoman Police Station, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abraham Apusiyiem and ASP Wilson Aniagyei of the Korle Bu Police station thanked the MP for the donation, which they said would help minimize crime.

Ms Bernice Aduo, Officer in-charge of the Sub Metro Education Office expressed gratitude to the MP for the computers to facilitate record keeping.

Mr Danny Annan, Greater Accra Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, who chaired the function, urged supporters of the party to forge ahead in unity and with a positive mind to win the 2012 elections.
