Subiri (WR), Dec. 6, GNA - A 48-year-old farmer, Madam Janet Akwabeng of Sefwi-Nzema-Nkwanta on Friday emerged the Best Farmer in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District.
She took home a 21-inch television set, knapsack spraying machine, full piece of wax print, Wellington boot, cutlasses and a bag of fertiliser.
Thirty other hardworking farmers also received spraying machines, radio sets, cutlasses, wax prints and bags of fertiliser as their prizes.
The best institutional award went to Sefwi Bekwai Senior High School, which was presented with four bags of herbicide, a trophy and certificate.
Mr Moses Kofi Armah, District Chief Executive (DCE) commended the farmers for promoting agriculture in the area.
He said Government was pursuing sound agricultural policies to ensure food security.
The DCE said this include importation of large quantities of tractors, harvesters and the pursuit of the youth-in agriculture programme.
