The Kumasi Polytechnic (K'Poly) will soon start Bachelor of Technology programmes in Hospitality Management and Food Science.
It will also introduce a Food Safety programme and organize shorts courses for housewives as well as people interested in the art and science of cooking.
A report presented by the Rector at the Polytechnic's Sixth Congregation said there is the need for qualified personnel to manage the sector effectively due to the rapid growth and development of the hospitality and tourism industry globally and particularly in Ghana.
The polytechnic's Centre for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development has also introduced a Business Incubation Clinic as a new strategic method of bridging the gap between industry and academia.
The method is aimed at instilling into the students the entrepreneurial ability of job creation.
