Accra, Nov. 28, GNA- The Arts Centre Branch of the Constituency Action Youth has
organized a cleaning exercise at the Arts Centre to help rid the place of filth and diseases.
About 200 members of the association undertook the exercise, which was supported by
the Accra Metropolitan, Zoomlion Ghana, and the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating
Council.
Mr. Anthony Brenya, who is the Secretary of the Association, expressed his
disappointment at the fast rate at which filth was engulfing the Centre and urged the
stakeholders to put a stop to it.
He appealed to them to keep the centre neat to maintain their health and the image of the
nation because of the high number of tourists, mainly foreigners, who patronise the place on
daily basis.
Mr. Brenya called on the local government to provide the centre with enough containers
for the collection of rubbish and to stop the indiscriminate defecation and the rearing of
animals, which mostly fed on the refuse dumps at the centre.
Mr. Henry Asomah, Deputy Director of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating
Council, praised the youth for the initiative and promised them the assistance of the Council.
