Government has revealed that it will soon pass a law to ensure that mining companies patronise both local personnel and machinery.

According to the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, , often times most mining companies in the country tend to import machine parts and accessories from foreign countries instead of those that are produced in the country.

This, he emphasized, was killing the activities of local industries, which were also producing equally good products.

He noted that the legislation, which is being studied by the Attorney General's Department, would ensure that mining companies take into consideration majority of the local labour force and locally manufactured mining machine parts and accessories to enhance the growth of local companies in the country.

made these known when he paid a familiarization visit to Gold Recovery Ghana limited and Hufra Compu Company, both located in Tema.

He noted that the passion for imported goods in the country was a defect in the country's economy, making it difficult for local manufacturers to get market for their products.

“As much as we encourage investors to invest in the country, so shall we encourage other companies to make use of the goods that are produced in the country.

He assured managers of the companies that he would organise a familiarisation trip for mining firms to acquaint themselves with some of their products.

Jojo Frimpong Boateng, the Managing Director of Hufra Compu Company, manufacturers of machine parts for mining companies and other accessories for industrial purposes, revealed that the main challenge facing his outfit was how to get market for their products, adding, “Even though we manufacture quality machine parts locally, some of the mining companies prefer importing their machine parts
