A Member of Parliament (MP) for Odododiodioo has appealed to residents of Sodom and Gomorra at Old Fadama who will be affected by a planned eviction by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to relocate.
Mr Jonathan Nii Tackie-Komme said their voluntary relocation would facilitate work on the Korle Lagoon Restoration Project.
Mr Tackie-Komme gave the advice at the inauguration of the branch executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at separate ceremonies within the Korle Wokon and the Old Fadama special wards in Accra.
The MP swore into office executives from 23 branches -Old Fadama, Ayalolo, Kokompe and the Arena. Addressing the Old Fadama executive, Mr Tackie Komme described the NDC as a social democratic party that was caring and had the interest of the people at heart.
He said this explained why President John Evans Atta Mills directed the Vice President, Mr John Dramani Mahama, to find an amicable solution to the Sodom and Gomorra problem.
The MP said the Vice President would visit the area soon for an on-the-spot assessment as part of the efforts to find an acceptable solution to the issue.
The Chairman of the Constituency, Mr Daniel Nii Okai, thanked members of the party for their dedication, which resulted in the victory of the NDC in the 2008 general election.
He charged them to continue their hard work to win more supporters for the party and to make victory a foregone conclusion in the 2012 elections.
The Constituency Vice Chairman, Mr Festus Bekoe, explained that the re-organisation of the party was a constitutional requirement of the NDC.
He explained that every branch had to be organised around a polling station and revived in readiness for the 2012 general election.
