Vodafone is playing host to a team of Laureus Academy Members who are in Accra for a project visit from September 9 – 11.

The Laureus team is made up of Marcel Desailly (Academy Member) Edwin Moses (Chairman of the Laureus Academy) and staff from Laureus.

During their three-day stay, the Laureus team visited Orphan Aid Africa, an orphanage at Ayeniah (near Dodowa) which is a Laureus-funded project.

The Vodafone guests also toured the Trassaco Village in Accra to familiarize themselves with the grand prize of a house that the overall winner of the Vodafone Promotion will receive.

Today at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra, a coaching clinic is being organized by Marcel Desailly and Edwin Moses for 22 teenagers drawn from various districts within Greater Accra.

The young participants will have a once-in-a-lifetime experience of personally interacting with these sporting legends and be privileged to learn high level skills in football and speed training from the soccer maestro Marcel Desailly and athletic Olympic medalist Edwin Moses.

Laureus comprises the Laureus World Sports Academy, the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation and the Laureus World Sports Awards; these three elements form the essence of Laureus.

Edwin Moses and Ghanaian born Marcel Desailly are chairman and member respectively of the Laureus World Sports Academy - a unique association of 46 of the greatest living sporting legends.

These legends share a belief in the power of sports to break down barriers, bring people together and improve the lives of young people around the world.

The Laureus World Sports Awards is the annual celebration of that achievement, when athletes the world over, are judged by the world's media and legends of the Academy.

Vodafone is a Global Partner of this prestigious event and has an agreement to partner the awards till 2012.

As a long-standing supporter of sports sponsorship, Vodafone is proud to be associated with an organisation that celebrates sporting excellence at a grass roots level through the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.
