ALL IS set for wood workers who trade at Anloga in Kumasi to relocate to the Sokoban Wood Village after the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), under the chairmanship of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Kofi Opoku-Manu, met with all stakeholders in connection with the relocation exercise.

The stakeholders, who included various workers' groups at the Anloga Wood Market, as well as the Electricity Company Ghana (ECG), Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), agree that the relocation would take effect this Wednesday September 9, 2009.

In a press statement issued and signed by Ernest Bronya Genfi, Public Relations Officer, for the Regional Minister last Thursday in Kumasi, the relocation was to be implemented to pave way for the Kumasi Urban Development Project to take off.

According to the statement, concerns, which included the availability of constant flow of water and electricity supply to their new workplace, and an allegation that the initial allocation of the Sokoban Wood Village sites benefited undeserving individuals, were considered before the final decision was taken.

As a result, it is expected that the contractor (Goemodel Haulage Firm) would start the evacuation on the agreed date, and called on those beneficiaries and other individuals to co-operate with them, in order to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
